I found out what is considered the proper seating arrangement in a car of 4+1
seats when the passengers are two women and two men. It is not, as one might
naively think, putting three people in the back seats and one in the front. No,
no, that would make people uncomfortable! In such a situation, both women ride
in front - yes on one seat, even when the road is a bumpy affair, barely
distinguishable from the rocky landscape...
Below are the impressions and thoughts of a young western woman working with a foreign NGO in Afghanistan. Often, the posts will be raw and unfiltered, as I am struggling to make sense of the things I hear and see around me. I mean to find the peaces (not the “peace”, as there is never just one peace), the beauty, the diversity of a society which has long been presented to us as a backwards haven for religious fanatics and violence.
